Phlox by Rainlight
Despite its complexity, nature operates as a beautifully unified whole, from the intricate patterns of leaves to the majestic flow of rivers shaping the landscape. Nature inspired our design concept, evident in the graceful curves of the chairs, the flowing contours of the tabletops, and the attention to detail throughout. The simplicity of these pieces belies their superb ergonomic design, ensuring extended periods of comfort.
The simplicity of Phlox belies its superb ergonomic design, ensuring extended periods of comfort. Every component has been thoughtfully considered for its environmental impact. The structural shell is crafted from 100% recycled polypropylene, salvaged from the manufacturing processes of other products, and designed to reduce CO2 emissions.
Phlox features Re:net, an upholstered fabric newly developed for this collection, made from fish nets salvaged from Japan’s seas and knitted together with recycled PET yarns to create a richly textured and sustainable textile. Each piece of Phlox is easily disassembled into separate components to ensure recyclability after a long use-life.
The creation of Phlox was a collaborative team effort between Rainlight Studio and Okamura, combining expertise in design and sustainability. Named after the flower that defies expectations by blossoming at night, Phlox serves as a reminder that nature never sleeps, and neither should our efforts to protect the planet.
